As part of our commitment to supporting our community, the Airports Authority operates a donation program that provides items to schools and non-profit organizations. This includes unclaimed lost and found items such as headphones, as well as food, backpacks, and other resources donated by Airports Authority employees.

A notable example of our efforts is the donation of more than 20 cars to a local school district, giving students the opportunity to learn automotive skills through hands-on experience. Our donation program is just one of the many ways MWAA demonstrates its dedication to social responsibility and community support.

The Airports Authority invited Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) educators, career center directors, department deans and other professionals from prominent institutions to explore vocational opportunities to share with their respective schools, academies, and institutes.  The goal of the event was to build stronger pipelines between local CTE programs and our employment/apprenticeship program.

The day focused on four CTE areas: aviation operations, informational technology & engineering, skilled trades and labor, and public safety. Airports Authority professionals engaged directly with educators, sharing insights about the opportunities available at our airports, detailing their vocational journeys, and highlighting the significant impact of their work.

The Airports Authority was proud to host Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton’s annual Congressional Art Competition reception, where we celebrated the incredible talents of high school students from across Washington, D.C. The reception provided a platform for these young artists to be recognized for their creativity and vision, with the winning entry selected for display in the U.S. Capitol.
