DCPS Arts is proud to feature artworks from a diverse group of young artists representing various DCPS elementary, middle, and high schools. This exhibition explores students' expressions of the present and visions for the future, utilizing contemporary techniques such as digital painting, photo-collage, text-to-image software, and digital photography.

DCPS Arts (part of the District of Columbia Public Schools, Office of Teaching and Learning) works closely with all DC Public School teachers, staff, and principals in the area of visual art, music, and performing art programs – providing teacher support, advocacy, professional development and community partnership opportunities.

Art is a powerful force that can mobilize communities, speak to social justice, and inspire change. The Poster Art Competition, which began in 1995, is a national program of The Links, Incorporated and held every other year.  Aspiring young student artists from all grade levels enter their artwork in contests run by nearly 300 Links chapters across the country for an opportunity to hone their skills, showcase their talents and win prizes.  Each year, the Capital City (DC) Chapter’s Poster Art Competition invites student artists from Washington, DC area schools to enter our local competition with their creative submissions focused on The Links, Incorporated’s social action initiatives. Students are asked to reflect on, and then express art related to race, gender, equality, immigration, criminal justice, environmental justice or other pressing social justice issues.  The visual narratives created by students from schools across the District are proudly displayed at the Youth Art Walk for passengers to enjoy.

McLean Project for the Arts (MPA) is one of the mid-Atlantic region's most respected visual arts organizations. MPA provides high-quality art exhibitions showcasing the work of established and emerging artists, educational programs, art classes, MPAartfest, summer art camps, and ArtReach, an award-winning outreach program serving students in grades K-12, seniors, and individuals with special needs.

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), an Affiliate Partner of the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, presents the Regional Scholastic Art Award program each year for the Fairfax Art Region serving public, private, parochial, and home school students age 13 to graduating seniors in Fairfax County, the City of Fairfax, and Alexandria City. The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards offer early recognition of creative teenagers and scholarship opportunities for graduating high-school seniors. The Awards are national in scope and administered by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers.
