An apprenticeship provides job seekers opportunities to earn a salary while learning the skills necessary to succeed in a high-demand career.  Individuals can obtain paid work experience, classroom instruction, and a portable, nationally-recognized credential. The apprenticeship exemplifies high standards, instructional rigor and quality training.

MWAA Apprenticeships are offered in the following occupations:  

• Electrical, Automatic Equipment Mechanic
• Electronics Technician 
• HVAC
• Locksmithing
• Plumbing-Pipefitting
• Structural Maintenance 
• Heavy Equipment Maintenance – Electrical, Heavy Equipment Body Mechanic, Building Maintenance, Welding, and Metal Fabricating.

Registered Apprenticeships are four years in length. Upon completion of the required on-the-job training and related instruction, the registered apprentice is eligible for Journeyperson license. A journeyperson is nationally recognized as having a well-rounded ability in all aspects of the trade.

• Receive a nationally recognized credential upon completion of the program.

• Must be at least 18 years of age with a High School Diploma or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) at the time of hire.
• Must have completed at least one trades course (Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, and Automotive Mechanics) in high school; and/or currently enrolled in an accredited degree/certificates program at a trade school.
• Must possess a state driver’s license in good standing at the time of hire. (Depending on assignment, you may be required to obtain a Class B commercial driver’s license during the program.)
• Able to successfully complete an Airports Authority background investigation incorporating a full employment history check, credit check, criminal history records check, and a driving records check.
• Complete a structured interview with our staff
• Apprentices work during the day and attend school at night.
• Apprenticeship training includes (4) years on-the-job training and technical instruction
• As your skills increase, you will receive increases in wages.
• MWAA offers a competitive benefits package
• Apprentices will assist the Apprenticeship staff in recruiting new apprentices by assisting with events and visiting schools.
