The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department is one of the largest police departments in Northern Virginia with 225 sworn officers. The Police Department is responsible for enforcing Airport Authority regulations, county codes in three separate county jurisdictions and the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Minimum Requirements

Entry Level

  • U.S Citizen
  • 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license
  • Pass a physical fitness test
  • Pass a written exam
  • Pass a vision and hearing test
  • Pass a drug screening
  • Pass psychological and polygraph exams
  • Meet background investigation standards

Lateral

  • DCJS certified (Virginia Lateral)
  • 3 years of continuous prior law enforcement experience (Out of State Lateral)
  • U.S Citizen
  • 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license
  • Pass a physical fitness test
  • Pass a vision and hearing test
