Newly hired police candidates will be assigned to the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Academy (NVCJA) located in Ashburn, Virginia for 20 weeks of law enforcement training.

Recruits will attend the academy four days a week. While attending the academy you will receive full salary and benefits.

Topics covered by the academy include:

Legal, Patrol Tactics, Control Tactics, Firearms and Emergency Vehicle Operations

Officers who graduate from the academy are certified as Virginia police officers. Upon graduation, new officers will be assigned to a Field Training Officer and receive additional departmental training. During an 18-month probationary period, continued training and evaluations will be conducted.
