Sean Burton has joined the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority board of directors. He is the federal nominee to the Board and was appointed by President Biden and confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
Burton is the chairman and chief executive officer of Cityview, a firm specializing in development and operation of commercial real estate and workforce housing in the western United States.
Burton’s public and community service includes eight years as president of the Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners, which oversees Los Angeles International and Van Nuys airports. He also served for five years on the Los Angeles City Planning Commission, where he chaired the subcommittee overseeing approval of a National Football League stadium. He is a member of the Young Presidents Organization and the Real Estate Roundtable. Burton also served in the Defense Intelligence Agency in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
Prior to joining Cityview, Burton was an executive in the Corporate Business Development and Strategy Division for Warner Bros., where he was responsible for strategic investments and corporate venture capital. His other professional experience includes serving as a transactional attorney at O’Melveny & Myers LLP and in the White House during the Clinton Administration.
Burton is a graduate of the New York University School of Law and the University of California, Irvine.
