Prepare to Remove Electronic Devices Larger than Cell Phones from Carry-On Baggage
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is implementing new screening procedures in standard security lanes, requiring passengers to remove electronic devices larger than a cell phone from carry-on baggage and place them in bins prior to going through the x-ray machine. The TSA also recommends placing food items in bins for easier screening.
To save time moving through the checkpoint, passengers should keep these procedures in mind when packing items that will need to be separated from luggage for x-ray screening. At the airport, follow signage posted at the checkpoint and instructions from TSA personnel.
The new security measures do not apply to passengers enrolled in TSA Pre✓® who are using TSA Pre✓® lanes.
The new TSA procedures at Reagan National and Dulles International are part of a nationwide rollout of security enhancements.
