Board Director Joslyn N. Williams re-appointed for a second term
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority announced today the appointment of Judith Batty and John Braun to its Board of Directors. Batty is an appointee of the Mayor of the District of Columbia, and Braun is an appointee of the Governor of Virginia. Board Director Joslyn N. Williams, also representing the District of Columbia, was re-appointed to a second term.
Batty joins the Airports Authority Board of Directors with a breadth of experience from the private and public sectors, as well as service to several charitable organizations. Her career includes serving as an executive and senior attorney at Exxon Mobil Corporation for over 28 years with experience in all areas of the oil industry. Prior to her tenure with ExxonMobil, Batty was a corporate attorney in private practice following her service at the United States Department of Justice in the Trial Section of the Antitrust Division. In addition to her legal expertise, Batty has worked on a range of policy issues, including trade sanctions, patent reform, STEM education and women's and girls' economic empowerment.
Active on numerous committees and boards of professional and charitable organizations, Batty currently serves as chair of the Board of Trustees of Arena Stage, a major arts and cultural center in the nation’s capital. She also serves as a member of the executive committee of the Board of Directors of Girl Scouts of the USA, and serves as its International Commissioner.
She received her Bachelor of Arts from New York University College of Arts and Sciences and her Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law.
Braun brings more than three decades of leadership experience across the aviation, government and military sectors to his role on the Board. Braun has held the position of president and chairman of the board at Dynamis, a leader in emergency management, preparedness and security services, since its inception in 2008.
Prior to founding Dynamis, Braun served as vice president of Washington, D.C. operations for Teledyne Technologies, one of the nation’s largest aviation and aerospace contractors. In his role as Teledyne’s senior executive in the National Capital Region, he had oversight for aviation, defense and aerospace initiatives. His career spans decades and includes serving as a military legislative assistant on the Hill, a senior policy analyst for the U.S. Air Force, and on the Virginia Secure Commonwealth Panel supporting emergency preparedness initiatives across the Commonwealth.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Braun is active in civic and charitable organizations throughout the Washington, D.C. area. He has served on the boards of the World Affairs Council, the Northern Virginia chapter of Stop Child Abuse Now and the Pheo Para Alliance.
