Alexandria, VA— Jeffrey Earl Thompson, CPA, founder and President and CEO of Thompson, Cobb, Bazilio & Associates, P.C., an accounting, management and financial consulting firm headquartered in Washington, D.C., has been appointed to the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Board of Directors by Mayor Marion Barry, Jr.
Mr. Thompson will complete the late Councilmember Polly Shackleton’s six-year term on the Board.
As one of the nation’s largest minority-owned public accounting firms, Thompson, Cobb, Bazilio & Associates, P.C. has expanded its operations to five cities with a staff of over 250 professionals and technical specialists.
Under Mr. Thompson’s leadership, his firm has provided services to numerous governmental and quasi-governmental entities involving over $4.5 billion in bonds and other financing for construction, housing and other capital budget projects. Mr. Thompson has directed numerous audit and assurance, management and financial consulting engagements to provide professional services to several clients in the transportation industry.
These clients include the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit System, the Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority, the Orange County Transportation Authority, the Southern California Regional Rail Authority, the Riverside Country Transportation Commission and the South Coast Air Quality Management District in California.
Mr. Thompson will bring over 20 years of experience in public accounting, governmental accounting, management, computer systems, asset securitization, financing, financial management, real estate and business consulting to this new position.
He is a graduate of the University of the District of Columbia, magna cum laude in accounting and finance and is a certified public accountant in the District of Columbia. His alma mater awarded him an honorary Doctor of Laws degree in May of 1997.
Mr. Thompson has held leadership positions on a number of boards including: Treasurer of the Lincoln Theater Foundation, Washington, D.C.; Finance Chair, 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, D.C.; and Chair of the Budget Committee for the 100 Black Men of America, Inc.
