The agreement recognizes growing commerce and tourism between the U.S. and China
On Friday, May 13, Airports Authority Vice President for Business Outreach Mark Treadaway and Executive Vice President of Capital Airports Holding Company Wang Xing signed a sister airport agreement between Dulles International Airport and Beijing Capital International Airport at a ceremony in Beijing. The agreement will increase collaboration between Dulles and Beijing airports in marketing, terminal management, airside management, route development, commercial management and design for the mutual benefit of both airports. Following the signing, a photo exhibit featuring Northern Virginia sights and attractions was unveiled in the Beijing airport.
Dulles has nonstop flights to Beijing on two airlines – United and Air China. Visitor spending by foreign tourists coming to the National Capital region from China is second only to nearby Canada. The airport partnership was initiated by Loudoun County Department of Economic Development and Visit Loudoun.
