A group of Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Officers will arm themselves with trays and aprons to support Special Olympics as part of the “Cops and Lobsters” fund raising event on Friday, March 2nd. Authority Police will be working for tips at the Red Lobster at 2403 Centreville Road in Herndon, Virginia from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and again from 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Their tips will go to support Special Olympics Virginia and the Special Olympics World Games.
This is the seventh year that the Authority Police Department has been involved in this program and they have raised roughly $15,000 for Special Olympics. For this event, a number of police officers along with Special Olympics athletes will be assisting Red Lobster employees in serving meals to customers.
Authority Police have been associated with Special Olympics Virginia for many years and raise funds with annual events such as Torch Run, Dulles Day Plane Pull and this event.
Last year, thousands of officers participated in the “Cops & Lobsters” events throughout 600 Red Lobster restaurants across the United States and Canada, raising a record $1.2 million.
This is one of many events the Authority police participate in to support Special Olympics Virginia. On September 15, 2001, MWAA police will hold its largest fund raising activity, Dulles Day Family Festival, featuring the 9th Annual Plane Pull Competition at Washington Dulles International Airport.
Please come join the fun on March 2nd and bring your appetite and donation tip money.
