Speaking on behalf of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer Chryssa Westerlund stated, “At the core of our mission here at the Airports Authority is bringing new service, new airlines and new options for the people of the greater Washington, D.C., area. We know there are communities with ties across the Middle East that will directly benefit from this new service.”
Jordanian Ambassador to the United States Dina Kawar joined in the festivities and said, “This direct flight is more than just a flight. It’s really a milestone in this friendship and relationship we have between Jordan and the U.S. It will serve as a bridge for those traveling home and back and also those who want to discover Jordan. Travelers will experience the vibrant culture of Jordan, from the ancient ruins of Petra tothe Dead Sea and the bustling city of Amman. I encourage everyone to go there.”
Speaking on behalf of Royal Jordanian, Director of Network Planning Eyad Birouti noted “Our goal is to increase tourism to our vibrant capital, Amman, which serves as the gateway to Jordan’s many breathtaking destinations—Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea, just to name a few. We would love to see more American travelers experience these wonders firsthand. Washington, D.C., is a global hub, home to the diplomatic corps, international trade and business leaders. This new connection makes travel more seamless for these sectors.”
