Summary: - The Airports Authority operates a robust ground transportation program at both Ronald Reagan Washington National and Washington Dulles International airports. The airports have issued over 8,000 Automated Vehicle Identification (AVI) tags for monitoring commercial vehicles, including taxis, limousines, multi-party vans, hotel shuttles, parking shuttle buses and Airports Authority vehicles. The Airports Authority currently uses a commercially available Ground Transportation Management System (GTMS) from Gatekeeper, with one stand-alone installation at each airport. Gatekeeper includes a dispatch element for dispatching taxicabs to the terminals at both airports. Both installations use TransCore AVI tags and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) readers. Reagan National has nine readers and 19 antennas and Dulles International has five readers, 11 antennas and one variable message sign.
The Airports Authority seeks to understand the market for an airport GTMS solution that tracks all types of commercial vehicles, dispatches taxicabs to the terminals, provides an automated billing and payment solution, provides an automated application registration and permit issuance system, and provides real-time and historic data through standardized protocols.
