Facilities
A wide variety of freight facilities is available, by company, at Washington Dulles. Contact your transportation specialist to make prior arrangements if your cargo is temperature sensitive. Most logistics companies at Washington Dulles can offer:
- Refrigerated and heated areas to accomodate perishable shipments.
- Special handling for live animals to protect them from extreme temperatures, exposure or noise.
- Security areas for short term storage of high value shipments.
- Foreign trade zone and bonded storage capabilities.
Security
Air freight shipments are generally more valuable than those moving in othemodes. Emphasis at Washington Dulles is on speed, flexibility and security, all of which are of prime importance.
Washington Dulles has one of the lowest pilferage rates of any major airport in the world. In addition, all transportation companies employ security systems and equipment of various types for the protection of freight. However, shipments should be packaged to discourage pilferage.
