Upcoming Opportunities - Major Construction and Design
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority anticipates issuing Requests for Proposals (RFPs) or Requests for Qualifications Information (RFQIs) for the following major Construction and Design projects throughout 2009. Please note that this is not necessarily a complete list of projects that will be issued during this time period, and all dates are estimates and subject to change at any time.
Fourth Quarter 2009
Runway 1-19 Safety Area Improvements and Hold Apron 1 Expansion, National Airport
| Description: This project will extend Runway 1 approximately 300 feet to the south, extending parallel Taxiway J to the new threshold, relocating the existing airport perimeter road, relocating the ILS glide slope and modifying the ALSF-2 system. The project will expand Hold Apron 1 approximately 250 feet to the south and 200 feet to the west. Work includes new PCC pavement, installation of associated drainage, signage and markings. | |
